Tools You’ll Need
The good news is that installing replacement kitchen doors requires very little equipment.
Most installations only require:
- A screwdriver
- Your existing hinges
If your doors have been ordered with pre-drilled hinge holes, the process becomes even easier.
Remove the Existing Door
Start by opening the cabinet door fully.
Most modern hinges use a quick-release clip system, allowing the door to be removed easily.
To remove the door:
- Locate the hinge clips on the back of the door.
- Press or release the hinge clip.
- Lift the door away from the cabinet.
Your old door should now come away cleanly from the cabinet.
Remove the Hinges
Next, transfer the hinges from the old door to the new one.
- Use your screwdriver to unscrew the hinges from the old door.
- Keep the screws safe as you will reuse them.
Once removed, your hinges are ready to be fitted to the replacement door.
Attach Hinges to the New Door
If you selected hinge hole drilling when ordering your doors, the hinge holes will already be positioned correctly.
To attach the hinges:
- Place each hinge into the pre-drilled hinge hole.
- Align the screw holes.
- Secure the hinge using your screwdriver.
The hinge should sit flush inside the hinge cup.
Hang the New Door
Now it’s time to attach the new door to the cabinet.
- Position the door in front of the cabinet.
- Line up the hinges with the cabinet hinge plates.
- Clip the hinge back onto the mounting plate.
Once both hinges are clipped into place, your new door is installed.
Adjusting Your Doors
Most cabinet hinges allow small adjustments to improve alignment.
If needed, you can adjust:
- Door height
- Door depth
- Side alignment
These adjustments allow you to achieve an even and professional finish across all cupboard doors.
